German luxury car manufacturer Porsche had set a goal of making 80 percent of its vehicles fully electric by 2030. Nonetheless, the company has now eased back on its pace, as demand and circumstances in the EV market are not as robust now as previously. Even so, Porsche is continuing to bolster its Macan EV lineup. To this end, the company has now launched the new Macan GTS Electric model, regarded as the sportiest offering in the lineup.
This new Macan GTS Electric is the fifth iteration of this SUV sold in the international market. It comes between the 4S and Turbo models, but takes on the Turbo model's rear electric motor.
Externally, this variant is separated from other versions by its unique black outer detailing, side skirts, wheel arch cladding, and tinted LED matrix headlight. The company stated that a Sport Design package will be available for all Macan models starting in 2026, but it will be standard on the GTS version. This makes the package more aggressive and sporty.
The SUV comes with 21-inch Macan Design alloy wheels, while customers can opt for 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels. Three new colors have also been added, including Carmine Red, Crayon, and Lugano Blue (which is being introduced for the first time on a Macan).
Interior-wise, the GTS version's cabin exudes a sporty feel. It uses Race-Tex material, which is visible on the seats, steering wheel, door panels, and central armrest. Porsche has also offered a GTS interior package, in which the cabin stitching is matched to the exterior color. This means that the car's color and interior detailing will appear consistent.
For those who want a more exclusive touch, there's also the option of a Carbon interior package, which features a carbon fiber finish on the steering, dashboard, and door panels.
The new Macan GTS Electric features the rear electric motor from the Turbo model. Combined with the front motor, it produces a total of 509 bhp, which increases to 563 bhp in overboost mode. Its top speed is 250 km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
This SUV is powered by the same 100 kWh battery pack that is also found in other Macan EV versions. The battery supports 270 kW fast charging, which allows it to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 21 minutes. On a single full charge, the SUV offers a range of 586 kilometers (according to the WLTP cycle).
The GTS version is further distinguished by its limited-slip rear differential, Sport Chrono package, and Porsche Torque Vectoring system, which are standard. The suspension system has been specifically tuned for the GTS, reducing the car's ride height by 10 mm and improving handling.
The Porsche Macan GTS Electric is priced at $103,500 (approximately Rs. 90.8 lakh) in the US market. This is approximately $6,000 cheaper than the Turbo Electric version and approximately $10,000 more expensive than the 4S version.
However, the company has not yet released any official information regarding its launch in India. Currently, three variants of the Macan EV are sold in India, and the arrival of the GTS is considered unlikely. Nevertheless, its sporty design, improved performance, and exclusive styling could make it a popular choice for Indian customers who seek luxury and speed.
