The aircraft was diverted after the issue was rectified and landed safely at Dibrugarh in the evening. The airline has not yet announced any information regarding the glitch.
According to officials, the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft took off from Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at 12:20 pm and was scheduled to land at Dibrugarh Airport at 1:25 pm. However, just before landing, the pilots noticed a problem with an avionics system related to one of the aircraft's wings, forcing them to return to Guwahati immediately.
After inspection and repairs by engineers, flight number IX-1186 took off again from Guwahati and arrived in Dibrugarh at 6:20 pm. All passengers are safe, and no injuries were reported. According to news agency PTI, an Air India spokesperson did not respond when contacted.
