Indian Navy, INS Visakhapatnam deployed in action after attack on merchant ship in Gulf of Aden
The Indian Navy said on Saturday that after receiving the news of the attack on MV Marlin Luanda in the Gulf of Aden, INS Visakhapatnam, which is a missile-guided destroyer, has been deployed. Earlier the Marshall Islands-flagged Marlin Luanda had issued a distress call and informed about the damage.

Marlin Luanda, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands, had earlier reported damage and made a distress call.
The Indian Navy reported that INS Visakhapatnam was sent to the Gulf of Aden in response to a distress signal that was received on the evening of January 26 from the MV Marlin Luanda.
The distressed commerce vessel is receiving assistance, according to the Navy. He said that INS Visakhapatnam had dispatched a merchant vessel equipped with firefighting equipment to provide help.
The Indian Navy said that there are 22 Indian and one Bangladeshi crew members on board this merchant ship. He said that the Indian Navy is committed to ensuring the safety of ships and saving lives at sea.
