Google Maps will soon introduce multi-car navigation feature, this is how it will be beneficial for group travel

Google is working on new capabilities for its maps to make group travel easier. This functionality will assist users in reaching a common location within a specified time from numerous locations. According to a patent filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, this new function will use a navigation service to coordinate several users traveling from different beginning points to the same destination, as reported by @xleaks7.

Important parts of this new feature update include the ability to send notifications, share automobile locations, and recommend the ideal meeting site when routes cross. Furthermore, the new feature ensures that all vehicles remain in sync, reducing the possibility of getting lost.

In addition, the system will provide the latest traffic and road conditions based on the route of the leading vehicle. This will keep everyone updated.

The new feature is believed to have access to users' calendar schedules and messages to find out their travel plans. If multiple users are found together, it will send them a request to join multi-car navigation to coordinate their travel plans. It also helps them by giving directions to the same destination within the same time frame. Apart from this, users can also make special requests for multi-car navigation while planning their journey.

This new feature will work on smartphones and devices that are connected to the vehicle's infotainment system via USB or Bluetooth. However, the technology giant has not yet announced when it will release this new multi-car navigation feature.

We have seen several updates coming to its maps. Recently, Google updated its AI-powered digital assistant Gemini to let users start automatic Google Maps navigation.

According to a previous report by 9to5Google, this feature can be used by simply asking the AI-powered digital assistant to start navigation to a place and using commands like "Navigate to [place]" or "Take me to [place]".

After receiving the command from users, Gemini will give a brief description of the route and estimated time to reach the destination. Google Maps is a well-known navigation tool used across the world.
