The flood situation in Assam's Nagaon district remains severe. So far, the floods have affected almost 30,000 individuals. A substantial portion of the Hatimura embankment was entirely destroyed as a result of the Brahmaputra river floodwaters. The flood situation in the Kaliabor area of Madhya Assam district has worsened.
The flood has devastated about 25 villages in the Kaliabor sub-division area. 1099.5 hectares of cropland have been submerged by flood waters. Due to flood floods, many individuals have been forced to flee their houses and are now seeking refuge on roads and high ground.
According to local villagers, they are facing a lot of problems due to the floods and many flood-affected people are also facing problems of food and drinking water.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected flood-affected areas in the state, including assessing flood preparedness at Kaziranga National Park. In a post in Hindi on his social media platform X, Sarma said, "We are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. Arrangements have been made for shelter, health check-ups adequate food etc. Prime Minister Modi has also assured me that if there is any need, the central government will help immediately."
