Tesla Robotaxi: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that his company is planning to start a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, from June 22. However, he has also said that this date is "tentative" at the moment.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that his company is planning to start a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, on June 22. But he has also stated this date as being "tentative" for now because the company is 'very careful' regarding safety.
Musk provided this information on his social media site X. He stated that the company is focusing on safety standards, and hence, the date may be altered.
Investors and Wall Street analysts, as well as Tesla enthusiasts, had been looking forward to it since Musk revealed in June this year the plans to introduce the robotaxi service.
In an interview given to a media organization last month, Musk had said that this service will initially be monitored from the center. And will be limited to only safe areas of the city (geofence). Initially, about 10 taxis will be run, and their number will then be increased rapidly. After this, the service will also be started in other cities like Los Angeles, San Antonio, and San Francisco.
Meanwhile, Tesla's EV sales have declined, the reason for which is believed to be increasing competition, redesign of the company's popular car Model Y, and Elon Musk's increasing interest in political activities.
Before this launch in Austin, Musk had a public debate with US President Donald Trump over tax policy. Some analysts fear that if the tension between Musk and Trump increases further, then federal safety regulators may show strictness on the activities of the robotaxi service.
