Central government in action after uproar over 'IC814 Kandahar Hijack', summoned Netflix's content head

IC814', a web series made on the Kandahar hijack, was surrounded by controversies. There was a ruckus over giving Hindu names to terrorists in the film. After the protest, now the central government itself has come into action mode. A notice has been sent by the government to Netflix's content head over this web series coming on Netflix.

According to news agency ANI, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has summoned the content head of Netflix for questioning regarding the 'IC814' web series.

Hindu names of terrorists have been given in the film, due to which there has been a ruckus. BJP said that filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has done all this deliberately. BJP leader Amit Malviya said that an attempt has been made to hide the Muslim identity of the terrorists by using Hindu names. Now this film should be boycotted.

BJP leader Amit Malviya said that this is the agenda of the Left to justify the crimes of Pakistani terrorists. This is the power of cinema, which the communists have been using aggressively since the 70s. This will only raise questions on India's security system in the long run.

All five terrorists who hijacked the plane were Muslims. Their names were Ibrahim Akhtar, Shahid Akhtar, Sunny Ahmed, Zahoor Mistry, and Shakir. However, their names in this film have been changed to Bhola and Shankar. This has led to controversy. There's also a demand on social media to boycott the film.

Aircraft IC-814 of Indian Airlines carrying 176 passengers was to fly from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, in December 1999 to New Delhi. During flying, the plane was hijacked.
