The FSSAI has issued notices to 14 companies. They face allegations regarding the provision of incorrect product information, misleading advertisements, and a lack of hygiene. The authority has directed these companies to rectify their shortcomings and comply with food safety regulations.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has served notices to several major food brands on Friday. They have made deceptive claims and violated branding and labeling guidelines.
In its official Twitter handle X, the FSSAI claimed that the move was taken under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. It has been found by investigations that several companies are making misleading claims to their customers. They violate the advertising and labeling guidelines of 2018.
One such company is Pluckk. The mango juice of this company comes with the tagline "No Added Sugar". But according to the investigation, apart from mango pulp, sugarcane juice has also been added in it. This gives a wrong idea to customers regarding the sugar content. Another instance includes the labeling of paneer as “Natural Paneer”. The use of the word natural is not allowed in paneer products.
