The first match of the three-match T20 series is being played between India and Afghanistan. In this match being played at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Afghanistan has set a target of 159 runs for India with the help of the explosive batting of former captain Mohammad Nabi.

Afghanistan lost five wickets in 20 overs while batting first after losing the toss and scoring 158 runs. With the aid of three sixes and two fours, Mohammad Nabi hit the team's highest total of 42 runs in 27 balls. Apart from them, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the wicketkeeper, scored 23 runs on 28 balls, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 29 runs on 22 balls, and skipper Ibrahim Zadran scored 25 runs on 22 balls. The best bowling for India was done by all-rounder Akshar Patel. In four overs, he claimed two wickets for 23 runs.

Afghanistan's inning was three minutes beyond schedule. Upon the arrival of Afghanistan's opening pair, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, there was a glitch in one area of the site screen. Which was closed by applying tape and cloth. At 50 runs, Afghanistan lost two wickets. These two wickets were taken by their opening batsman. First off, wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma stumped Rahmanullah Gurbaz with the final ball of the eighth over, thanks to an Akshar Patel hit. Then, on the second ball of the very next over, Rohit captured Ibrahim Zadran thanks to a catch by Shivam Dubey. He did not make it to fifty.

On the final ball of the tenth over, Afghanistan was dealt its third blow. Rahmat Shah was bowled by Axar Patel, a T20 debutant. At 125 runs, Afghanistan's fourth wicket fell. Azmatullah Omarzai was soundly defeated by Mukesh Kumar. At 130 runs, Afghanistan was dealt the greatest blow. Rinku Singh caught Muhammad Nabi on Mukesh Kumar's ball.

Najibullah Zadran batted after this, pushing Afghanistan over 150. In addition to Akshar, Mukesh Kumar claimed two wickets for the Indian team. In addition, Shivam Dubey claimed one wicket.
