Vivo launching a mixed-reality headset like Apple Vision Pro
Vivo is preparing to launch a mixed reality (MR) headset next year. It is expected to compete with other MR headsets in the wearable wearable market such as Apple Vision Pro and Samsung's upcoming Project Moohan. However, its specifications have not been revealed. Let's know the rest of the details.
Vivo is going to launch a mixed reality (MR) headset soon. The company reportedly announced this during an event on Tuesday. It is believed that this wearable will compete with other MR headsets in the wearable market such as Apple Vision Pro and Samsung's upcoming Project Moohan, which was announced earlier this month. However, there is no information about its specifications yet, but Vivo will launch a mixed-reality headset next year, with the first prototype coming in the second half of 2025.
This information has been given by tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) through a recent post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. According to the tipster, the Vivo MR headset will be similar to the Apple Vision Pro. However, it is expected to surpass Apple's headset in terms of wearable features. The first prototype of the headset is expected to be available in September. According to the report, it will undergo a "high-fidelity prototype experience" in several cities in China by the end of next year.
It has not provided word on the launch date of the MR headset just yet, while a report by Inogyan, citing a Vivo executive, says its launch will be at an appropriate time, determined by how ready the supporting content ecosystem is.
The rumored announcement is rooted in confirmation that the Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is developing an MR headset from the Vivo Imaging Conference in China held in July. At the time, Yu Meng, VP of Imaging at Vivo said the rumored device will launch in 2025.
Earlier this month, Google announced a new operating system for extended reality (XR) devices. XR is a big term that includes augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). According to the technology giant, the new Android XR OS will bring support for those features. It will offer services that rely on Artificial Intelligence (AI), AR, and VR.
In the advanced development, with the incorporation of the Gemini AI assistant, the user will be allowed to converse with the assistant, including asking questions about locations and objects. All these facilities will be provided within the field and view of the user. Apart from this, the facility for the Circle to Search feature will also be provided.
