Ever since Donald Trump took power for the second time, the rules regarding immigration and visas have been tightened in America. Visas of many students who want to go to America are being canceled, and this has increased both concern and surprise among Indian students.

Last year, more than 3.3 lakh students from India went to America. But now a big drop is being seen in this figure. It is believed that the number of Indian students going to America may see a decline of 70 to 80 percent. The biggest reason for this is the ban on visa appointment slots and visa rejection.

According to the Times of India, Sanjeev Rai of Hyderabad Overseas Consultant said that this is the worst situation in recent years. Students are refreshing the portal every day in the hope of a slot opening up. Usually by this time, students are preparing for departure after completing the visa interview.

Seeing the difficulties being faced by the US Embassy in the appointment and process for visa process, many students are also turning to other countries. Ankit Jain of Window Overseas Education Consultancy said that there are many students who have booked the slot but have not received confirmation.

According to Arvind Manduva of i20 Fever Consultancy, there can be a decline of up to 80 percent in the number of students going to America this year. There are many students who have also completed the visa interview process, but now they are facing rejection. Most people are saying that 214B is the reason behind this.

Section 214 (b) of the US Immigration and Nationality Act is a common reason for visa rejection. This is made the basis for visa rejection when the applicant is unable to prove that he will return to his country after the trip. The US Consulate General in Hyderabad has said that it is necessary to investigate the applicants to ensure that they do not intend to harm the US or our interests.
