Todd Murphy, Jhye Richardson Named in Australia Squad for Boxing Day Ashes Test
Aus vs Eng Boxing Day Test: Todd Murphy and Jhye Richardson have been included in Australia's squad for the Boxing Day Test against England. Nathan Lyon is scheduled to undergo surgery, while Pat Cummins has been given a break.
Todd Murphy and Jhye Richardson have been named in the Australian team for the Boxing Day Test match against England, which is scheduled from 26th December. Todd Murphy, from Victoria, hopes that this is an opportunity for him to achieve his childhood dream of playing on Boxing Day, as he was named among the team for the fourth Test of the Ashes Series, alongside Jhye Richardson. Murphy will replace Nathan Lyon, who beats Kuhnemann and Corey Rocchioli.
Australia confirmed through a Tuesday morning report that Lyon will need surgery as a result of a right hamstring injury sustained while diving to save a boundary on the final day of the Ashes-series-winning third test. Lyon will not play for a long time.
Steve Smith will return as captain, provided he recovers from an inner ear problem that prevented him from playing in Adelaide. Pat Cummins will not play in the Boxing Day Test as part of his management plan. Cummins returned from a back injury in Adelaide, taking six wickets. His participation in the final Test in Sydney remains uncertain, as Australia has already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
