Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is likely to chair the last cabinet meeting of the current term on September 29. There is a possibility that many welfare schemes may be approved before the announcement of assembly elections and implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.

These include the decision to constitute a Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for government employees and pensioners, and the announcement of Dearness Allowance (DA) in lieu of delay in the implementation of the new PRC.

The ruling party Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) hopes that the Election Commission will release the election schedule by mid-October, after which the announcement of concessions will be put on hold.

The Cabinet meeting will also be under watch due to Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan rejecting recommendations to nominate BRS leaders Dasoju Shravan and Kurra Satyanarayana as MLCs under the Governor's quota. It is expected that the Cabinet will approve the same two names and send them again to the Governor for approval.

The Cabinet will approve the Chief Minister Breakfast Scheme as a "Dussehra gift" for government school students from classes 1 to 10 from October 24. The scheme will cost Rs 400 crore per year, which is in addition to the mid-day meal scheme being implemented in all government schools.

The previous PRC was constituted in July 2018 and its recommendations were implemented in April 2021 with a fitment (increase in basic pay) of 30 percent. A new PRC was to be appointed by last July.
