Monsoon Arrives in Northeast India, Covers Several States After Brief Delay
The monsoon reached northeastern India on Sunday, two days late, with the possibility of above-normal rainfall. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Tamil Nadu and Idukki in Kerala.
The monsoon season started in the northeast two days late compared to previous years. The usual period when the monsoon starts in the northeast is June 5.
Meteorological officials from Guwahati and Agartala have reported that the monsoon is in Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, some areas in Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.
There is an expectation that the monsoon will soon come to the other parts of the northeastern region, including the sub-Himalayan part of Bengal and Sikkim, in the next three or four days.
