Specs AR Glasses Launched: New Smart Glasses Offer AI Assistant, Hand Tracking and 115-Inch Virtual Cinema Experience
Last year, Snap spun off its smart wearables division into a new company. This new company has now unveiled its first consumer-focused augmented reality (AR) smart glasses, Specs, during the Augmented World Expo 2026.
In the previous year, Snap had separated its wearable technology division to create a new company. At the Augmented World Expo 2026 on Tuesday, the new company released its first consumer-level augmented reality smart glasses named Specs. Specs glasses come in two sizes with a frame built using Swiss TR90 polymer material. The glasses utilize two unidentified Snapdragon processors that enable features such as hand tracking among others when the device is interacted with. The company also claims to have filed more than 7,000 patents during the development process.
Specs glasses are currently available for pre-order via the online store. The price starts from $2,195 (approximately Rs. 2,07,000) after placing a refundable deposit of $200 (approximately Rs. 19,000). Shipping of the product will be initiated in the United States, United Kingdom, and France within this year's fall season. Availability in other markets including India has not yet been mentioned by the company.
These latest Specs AR glasses come in two sizes. The 47mm model weighs approximately 132 grams, while the larger 52mm variant weighs 136 grams. Prescription lenses can also be fitted. The display system of these smart glasses is based on the company's proprietary liquid crystal on silicon technology.
