India's ranking improved in the Global Cyber Crime Index, strict laws preventing digital crime
Cyber Safety: The government has taken several steps to effectively prevent cybercrime in India. These include the Digital Personal Data Protection Act as well as changes in IT laws and the Indian Code of Justice (BNS).
The Government of India has taken comprehensive technical and legal measures to counter the increasing cyber-attacks on India. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told the Rajya Sabha on Friday that tangible actions are being taken by the government to resolve this and the general public is also being sensitized. He assured that India's cyber security policy is very strong and is being implemented thoroughly. India's ranking in the Global Cyber Security Index was earlier 30-40, but now it is within the top 10.
Under legal reform, the government has implemented the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, IT laws have been tightened and the Indian Code of Justice (BNS) has provided for stringent punishment for cybercriminals.
On the technical front, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) has been set up to effectively control cyber crimes. Apart from this, the National Cyber Coordination Center (NCCC) monitors the entire cyberspace and helps in identifying and preventing attacks. At the same time, the Cyber Swachhta Kendra (CSK) provides free tools and important information related to cyber security to protect citizens from malware and botnet attacks. Apart from this, the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center (NCIIPC) ensures the security of the country's critical digital infrastructure.
