This is done through fraudulent notifications that closely resemble the X emails in content and style, thereby making it difficult for anyone to detect the con initially. It has been reported that these emails are designed to scare people and make them give up their usernames and passwords.
According to reports, the users receive emails stating that attempts have been made to log into their X account from an unknown source. They are then asked whether the login attempt was authentic or not.
The emails appear highly authentic and feature X's branding. They aim to trick recipients into clicking malicious links or opening attachments, ultimately leading to the theft of credentials. Cybersecurity experts point out that X never asks users to share passwords via email or direct message, nor does it send security-related file attachments.
