The 16th match of the ICC Under-19 Women's World Cup was played between India and Malaysia in Group A today on Tuesday 21 January at Bayumas Oval Maidar in Kuala Lumpur. In this match, India registered a record win in just 17 balls. India's captain Nikki Prasad won the toss and opted to bowl first. After losing the toss, Malaysia's team, who came out to bat first, were bowled out for just 31 runs in 14.3 overs. India's bowling was so lethal that no batsman from Malaysia could even cross the score of 5 runs. After this, India won the match by 10 wickets in 2.5 overs without losing any wickets. The hero of India's victory was Vaishnavi Sharma, who was chosen as the Player of the Match for her five-wicket haul along with a hat-trick of wickets.
Malaysia, who were sent in to bat first after losing the toss, got off to a very bad start. Malaysia received the first blow in the second over itself when Joshitha dismissed Nuni Farini LBW without scoring a single run on a score of just 4 runs. After this, the second opener Noor Alia was run out on a personal score of just five. Then the third blow came when Ayushi Shukla clean bowled Husna on a personal score of five runs, thus making her score 13. Further, Vaishnavi Sharma gave the fourth blow by sending captain Noor Dania on a personal score of one run to the pavilion. Then Aayushi gave the fifth blow to Malaysia at a score of 22.
After Malaysia lost five wickets at the score of 22, the rest of the team also returned to the pavilion after adding only 9 runs and Malaysia set a target of just 32 runs in front of India. For India, Vaishnavi Sharma took a hat-trick and also took five wickets.
Chasing Malaysia's target of 32 runs, the Indian team easily chased the runs in just 2.5 overs without losing any wickets. Gongdi Trisha scoredan unbeaten 27 runs with the help of five fours in 12 balls and Kamalini scored 4 runs in five balls to give India an easy victory by 10 wickets. Vaishnavi Sharma was awarded the title of Player of the Match.
