Vaibhav Suryavanshi to Focus Only on Batting for Now, Bowling Part of Long-Term Plan: Sunil Joshi

What should be mentioned is the fact that, as soon as Gautam Gambhir became a head coach of Team India, there was an aim to have players who could do more than one thing in order to make the team's batting and bowling strong. However, it was successful not always. At this point, the team already has some specialists in batting and can occasionally bowl a couple of overs. Abhishek Sharma has already bowled and so did Vaibhav in Under-19 cricket.

Is the team management considering using Abhishek, Tilak Varma, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as part-time bowling options? Responding to this, Joshi said, "I believe all three are good bowlers and all-rounders. Abhishek has improved significantly; a coach always wants to see continuous improvement. We also have Tilak Varma, who is essentially an optional bowling option as well."

Speaking about Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Joshi stated that his primary focus right now should be on his batting. "I feel the first priority is for him to focus on his batting. He has been outstanding, and I am happy with his performance. This has been a happy hunting ground for him; he performed well here during the Under-19 World Cup final."

The former Indian spinner also mentioned that Suryavanshi's bowling is part of the long-term plan. "Vaibhav has been very comfortable with his batting. Whenever time permits, I will work with him at the Centre of Excellence. We will certainly see him bowl well; we will definitely focus on that aspect, and soon."
