The white-ball coach of the South African cricket team, Rob Walter, has said that he will be stepping down from his role at the end of the current month. He has made the decision to step down from the team due to personal reasons. Cricket South Africa has accepted his resignation. Rob Walter was made head coach of the men's white-ball team of South Africa in March 2023 and he worked very well.

It was during the tenure of Rob Walter that the South African team made the final of the T20 World Cup for the very first time. The Proteas team made it to the final in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost a heart-stopping match to Team India and lost the championship. The Proteas made it to the semi-finals in the 2023 ICC World Cup in India conducted during his period and lost to the reigning champions Australia.

After resigning, Walter said, "It has been an incredible honor to coach the Proteas and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together. The players, support staff, and the South African cricket community have been fantastic throughout this journey. Although it is now time for me to step down, I have no doubt that the team will continue to move forward and they will touch even greater heights."

Cricket South Africa wrote on its social media platform X, “The Proteas Men’s White-Ball Head Coach, Rob Walter, has resigned. Walter has cited personal reasons behind this, which have been accepted by CSA. Walter, who has been serving in the position since March 2023, has played a key role in South Africa’s recent successes on the global stage. Under his leadership, the Proteas made history by reaching their first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final in 2024, where they finished runners-up after losing to India in Barbados.”
