Yograj Singh unhappy with Abhishek Sharma’s inconsistent T20 World Cup performance

Indian cricket’s rising star, Abhishek Sharma, is in the news not only for his performances in cricket but also because Yograj Singh, the father of Yuvraj Singh, is not happy with him. Yograj Paaji is upset with Abhishek Sharma’s recent performances and attitude. Yograj Singh feels that Abhishek Sharma is not taking cricket seriously. In this T20 cricket tournament, Abhishek Sharma played 7 to 8 matches. It was surprising to see that Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck three times in the tournament. Yograj Singh has said that if you are more interested in “reels” and “parties,” you will definitely fail in the field. Yograj Singh has also said that Abhishek Sharma should respect the game; otherwise, it will be difficult for him to find a place in the team.

Abhishek Sharma won his first T20 World Cup, but his personal performance was turbulent. The tournament started poorly, with him getting out for ducks three times in a row in the first round. He opened his account against South Africa and showed signs of returning to form with a good half-century against Zimbabwe. Then, he was dismissed cheaply against the West Indies and England, leading to speculation about his removal from the team. However, in the final match against New Zealand, he scored a fifty off just 19 balls, laying the foundation for India's historic victory.

Yograj Singh believes Abhishek is losing his focus. Speaking to the media, he said, "When your mind is elsewhere, that's when you fail." This is what's happening with Shubman Gill and Abhishek. Abhishek is making reels these days; that's not his job. He should go to bed at 9 p.m., wake up at 5 a.m., and play a thousand balls a day.

Abhishek always credits Yuvraj Singh for his success, but Yograj Singh says Abhishek isn't even close to Yuvraj. He said, "It will take him centuries to become like him. Cricketers these days are chasing parties, girls, money, and shooting, which is wrong."

Abhishek has a strike rate of 190.46, yet Yograj Singh is unhappy with his habit of playing big shots on every ball. He said, "I'm very irritated with him. I even message him, 'Don't take cricket for a joke. Hitting a six on every ball and entertaining the crowd isn't everything. You also have to learn to take singles and doubles, otherwise you'll keep failing."
