The Zimbabweans created history as they defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs with an all-round performance in Rawalpindi. Batting first in the second match of the T20 International Tri-Series, Zimbabwe posted 162 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Sri Lanka was out for just 95 runs. The hero of Zimbabwe's victory was Sikandar Raza, who scored 47 runs and also took an important wicket. This was Zimbabwe's third T20 victory over Sri Lanka. This is Zimbabwe's biggest win against a full-member team in this format of cricket.

The Zimbabweans had a poor start, losing the toss and electing to bat first. They lost two crucial wickets in the powerplay for just 40 runs. Bennett and Raza then added 61 runs for the third wicket. Bennett (49) fell to Hasaranga at the score of 101.

Wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter, and Zimbabwe managed 162 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Sikandar Raza top-scored with 47 runs, while Wanindu Hasaranga (3/32) and Ishan Malinga (2/27) bowled superbly for Sri Lanka.

The target of 163 proved too much for Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe's bowlers dominated from the start. Richard Nagarawa dismissed Pathum Nissanka in the very first over. Kusal Perera fell to Tinotenda Maposa in the second over, while Kusal Mendis was run out in the seventh over, leaving Sri Lanka in a precarious position at 25/3.

Brad Evans then came in and kept Sri Lanka under pressure throughout with his low economy rate. He breached Bhanuka Rajapaksa's defense and then came back to take the wickets of Ishan Malinga and Maheesh Theekshana. Sri Lanka's chase remained slow throughout the match. Dasun Shanaka top-scored for Sri Lanka with 34 runs. Meanwhile, Brad Evans took three wickets and Nagarawa took two for Zimbabwe.
