Puri Rath Yatra: An accident happened in Puri on Tuesday when the idol of Lord Balabhadra fell while being taken from the chariot to the temple during the Rath Yatra festival. Giving information, the collector said that 9 people had been injured in the accident.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha, is currently generating a lot of excitement. However, an accident occurred during the Rath Yatra festival on Tuesday. Actually, when transporting the deity of Lord Balabhadra from the chariot to the Gundicha temple, it fell on the sevadars. Nine sevadars of the Jagannath temple were hurt in this accident. The temple official provided information regarding the occurrence.

Puri Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain said that five of the nine injured were admitted to the hospital, while four others suffered minor injuries. The accident happened shortly after 9 pm when the idol was being brought down from the chariot of Lord Balabhadra to be taken to the Gundicha temple.

This process of taking the Lord is known as the 'Pahandi' ritual. It is being told that the people who were carrying the idol suddenly lost their balance. Due to this, this accident happened. An injured sevadar said that this accident happened due to some problem with the rope tied to the idol.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed concern over the incident and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured sevadars. He has instructed Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan to immediately visit Puri and take appropriate steps.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also went to Puri and visited the hospital with Harichandan. She talked to the injured sevadars and enquired about their condition. Speaking to the media, Harichandan said, "With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, all the injured people are fine and rituals are also going on.

After the accident, the idols of the three siblings, Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra, were taken inside the Gundicha temple, considered to be their birthplace. Now they will remain in the Gundicha temple till the 'Bahuda Yatra' on July 15. Let us tell you that after 53 years, this time the Rath Yatra in Puri is of two days. Sunday was the first day of the Yatra, which was stopped with the sunset.

On the other hand, about 130 people, including some policemen, were injured during the Rath Yatra in Puri on Sunday, out of which half of the people were discharged after treatment, while 40 people are undergoing treatment.
