Pahalgam attack condemned in BRICS meeting, resolution taken to fight together against terrorism
The BRICS Parliamentary Forum strongly condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack and resolved to fight together against terrorism. Representatives from 10 countries, including India, participated in the meeting held in Brasilia. Led by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the BRICS countries agreed on a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

The BRICS Parliamentary Forum strongly denounced the Pahalgam terrorist attack on Friday and vowed to battle terrorism in unison. Members from 10 nations, including China and Iran, attended the session of this forum.
The Indian parliament's delegation was headed by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, in the forum meet held during June 4-5 in Brasilia, the Brazilian capital. According to the official statement, the 10 countries of BRICS condemned the Pahalgam attack as well as agreed to cooperate on the policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
The next meeting will be held in India, and Om Birla has been appointed its chairperson. According to the statement, representatives from India, Brazil, Russia, China, South Africa, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Indonesia participated in this year's meeting. Representatives of the parliaments of these countries played an important role in drafting the joint declaration.
After a number of rounds of serious deliberations and discussions during the session, a consensus had been reached on crucial issues like AI, international trade and economy, inter-parliamentary cooperation, and international peace and security. India's perspectives on issues were well appreciated by all the nations and incorporated in the joint declaration by consensus. Especially India's decisive stand on terrorism was taken seriously.
India strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and called for zero tolerance against terrorism. Indian policy and leadership were particularly praised in the meeting, and the parliamentary representatives of BRICS considered the active participation of all countries essential in maintaining global peace and security.
