Indian hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh has been nominated by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the Best Player of the Year award. At the same time, former goalkeeper PR Sreejesh has been nominated for the Best Goalkeeper of the Year award. Both of them played an important role in India's brilliant campaign in the Paris Olympics and won the bronze medal for the team.

Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was doing great goalkeeping throughout the tournament as he played in his last tournament. India defeated Spain 2-1 to win the bronze medal. At the same time, Sreejesh is competing with Pirmin Black of the Netherlands, Luis Calzado of Spain, Jean-Paul Danberg of Germany, and Tomas Santiago of Argentina.
Releasing this list on its website, FIH said - The nominees have been selected by a special committee consisting of players, coaches, and officials selected by each continental association. Before finalizing this list, the expert committee was provided with match data for all international matches held in 2024. This included test matches, the FIH Hockey Pro League, FIH Hockey Nations Cup, FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, and Paris Olympics 2024 matches.
The voting process for national associations (represented by captains and coaches of their respective national teams), fans, players, coaches, officials, and media will continue till October 11. FIH further said that the votes of the Expert Committee will get 40 percent weightage while the votes of national associations, fans, and other players and media will get 20-20 percent weightage.
