Porsche Announces Voluntary Recall of Panamera Cars in India Due to Crash Sensor Issue

158 units of the Porsche Panamera have been recalled in India due to a technical issue with the airbags. These vehicles were manufactured between July 19, 2023, and September 2, 2025. Incorrect wiring of the crash sensor located in the door trim panel could delay the side airbag deployment in a crash, posing a risk of injury. The company will contact customers to resolve the issue.

Porsche has announced a recall of 158 units of its luxury sedan, the Panamera, in India due to a technical issue with the airbags. All these cars were manufactured between July 19, 2023, and September 2, 2025. The reason for the recall is said to be faulty wiring of the crash sensor located in the door trim panel.

According to information on the SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) website, a faulty sensor connection can delay the side airbag deployment in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. This is why the company has decided to recall these vehicles under a voluntary recall.

This recall applies to the Panamera YAA and YAB models. These are the same models that were recalled in Australia for 142 units due to a similar issue. Porsche will contact affected car owners in India directly to resolve the issue at authorized service centers. Customers can also check if their car is affected by entering their VIN number at recall.porsche.com.

This is Porsche's second recall in India this year. Previously, the Porsche 911 was recalled in March 2025 due to a seat belt buckle issue. At that time, the company had said that the screw connection of the seat belt buckle was not fitted properly, due to which there was a risk of the seat belt coming loose during an accident or emergency braking.
