Popular player Denis Law known as 'King', caused a wave of mourning in the sports world

Football legend Denis Law has died, aged 84. He was the only Scottish player to have received the prestigious award known as the Ballon d'Or. Nicknames like "The King", and "The Lawman", himself left an influence in the memory of football as well. For 11 uninterrupted years, Denis Law was connected with Manchester United alone, for whom he netted 237 goals in 404 matches. With this record, he is third in the club's list of all-time top scorers behind Wayne Rooney and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Born in Aberdeen, Law began his professional career with Huddersfield Town. He then joined Torino Club in Italy. He later played for Manchester City and Manchester United, where he became a football legend. For Scotland, he played 55 matches and scored 30 goals, making him the country's joint-best scorer.

The first footballer in history to break the British transfer record three times, his achievements off the pitch also made him an exemplary role model for club and country. In 2021, Law announced he was suffering from Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. It was his family that announced his death with the words, "With a heavy heart, we want to tell you that our father Denis Law has passed away. He bravely fought, and now he is at peace." The family thanked his caregivers and fans by stating, "We know how people loved him, and this love was always appreciated. Thank you.".
