Personal Digital Data Protection Act is going to be implemented to protect the personal data of people from cyber criminals. Drafts and the rules prepared in this regard were released by the government. With the new implementation, data theft can be curbed.
Apart from that, it also decided to set up a Grievance Redressal and Data Protection Board. The ministry has sought suggestions from the people till February 18 to make the law. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued draft rules for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, according to which it will be obligatory for companies to obtain consent from the parents before processing any personal data of the child.
According to the draft, a Grievance Redressal and Data Protection Board will be established. Digital Board: The office shall have a digital platform and an app through which people can stay in digital contact and complain. The digital board shall provide a judicial framework for complaints redressal and punishments in a timely manner. The annual security measures, assessments, and audits are to be ensured by the trustee holding the data.
According to the draft rules, the entire data protection framework has been built keeping people at the center. People have been empowered with the right to demand the erasure of data, appoint a digital nominee, and access user-friendly mechanisms to manage their data.
