Donald Trump Re-shares ‘Hell-Hole’ Post on India, MEA Calls Remarks ‘Ill-Informed and Inappropriate’

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have seen those comments and the subsequent statement issued by the US Embassy."

Randhir Jaiswal further said, "These comments are clearly ill-informed, inappropriate, and ill-conceived. They certainly do not reflect the true nature of India-US relations."

Donald Trump shared a derogatory post by a podcaster on social media, which described India as a hell-hole.

The post Trump shared was a podcast by American political commentator and radio host Michael Savage, which contained racist remarks.

In this post, Savage demanded changes to the US birthright citizenship law, alleging in a racist statement that people from two Asian countries come to the US "to have a baby in the ninth month" and that this law immediately makes them US citizens.

After Trump re-shared this post, US Embassy spokesperson Christopher Elms said that Trump had said very nice things about India. Elms said that President Trump called India a great country and said that he has a personal friendship with the Indian leader.
