Pakistan's disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 has worried the PCB since the squad was ousted in the group round. The Pakistan Cricket Board has awoken from its sleep. The board has begun efforts to get Pakistan cricket back on track. It wants the mistakes to be fixed so that the country can field a strong team. It has invited 25 former players to discuss how to strengthen domestic cricket.

The PCB has asked 25 former international cricketers to attend a conference to discuss how to enhance the domestic cricket system. On Monday, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and other board members will meet with former players to solicit their feedback and recommendations.

The discussions will focus on how to reduce the quality gap between Pakistan's domestic cricket league and international cricket. The meeting will also discuss a detailed plan presented by another former player outlining the issues with the country's current cricket system.

But the PCB has carried out similar exercises before, as the format of the domestic tournament has been problematic since 2018. After Imran Khan became prime minister, the first-class competition was limited to just six teams. Last year, the Zaka Ashraf-led board reinstated the previous first-class format, which included departmental teams.
