Para archer Harvinder Singh and former footballer IM Vijayan awarded Padma Shri Award 2025
Padma Awards 2025: India's first Paralympic gold medalist archer Harvinder Singh and former footballer IM Vijayan were awarded the Padma Shri at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday honored 69 recipients of Padma Awards for outstanding work in a wide range of fields, including art, literature, education, public affairs, medicine, social work, science, sports and industry at a grand ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and others.
Padma Awards, India's highest civilian awards, are given in the categories of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. A total of 139 Padma awardees were announced by the government on Republic Day eve.
In such a situation, those honored in this second phase of the Padma Awards included 3 Padma Vibhushan, 9 Padma Bhushan, and 57 Padma Shri awardees. The ceremony had special significance as it gave these honors posthumously to 13, honoring those veterans who have left a lasting legacy in their field. India's first Paralympic gold medalist in sports, archer Harvinder Singh, and former footballer IM Vijayan were awarded the Padma Shri award.
Among the players who received the Padma Shri award this year, hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was selected for the Padma Bhushan, while former cricketer Ravi Ashwin, former footballer IM Vijayan, para-archer Harvinder Singh and para-athletics coach Satyapal Singh were selected for the Padma Shri.
The Padma Bhushan is India's third highest civilian award after the Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan. The Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award. The Padma Awards are given to individuals by the government for distinguished service in any field. The list of Padma Awards 2025 winners was announced in January itself.
