Pakistan Restricts Newspaper Access to Indian Diplomats After Operation Sindoor; India called it a violation of the Vienna Treaty

After India's Operation Sindoor success, Pakistan is highly agitated, and the newest evidence of this was when Pakistan placed special restrictions on the Indian High Commission in Islamabad from June 2025.

The oddest restriction here is that the delivery of local newspapers to Indian diplomats has been stopped. Jagran Sources say that this step has been taken in response to India's military action Operation Sindoor.

According to sources in the Ministry of External Affairs, the Pakistan government has given clear instructions to local newspaper vendors and distributors not to give any newspaper or printed material to the Indian High Commission.

Due to this, Indian diplomats posted there are not able to get information about local news, developments, and the current situation in Pakistan from the print media. Experts believe that this is a deliberate step, so that local information does not reach Indian officials.

The Indian Foreign Ministry has described this action as deliberate, well-thought-out, and a violation of the Vienna Convention. Under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, foreign diplomats in any country have the right to work safely and respectfully.

India alleges that Pakistan has been adopting such non-diplomatic methods instead of traditional diplomatic methods for a long time. This dispute has come to the fore after India's Operation Sindoor, in which heavy damage was caused to terrorist bases in Pakistan.

Earlier, the Indus Water Treaty was suspended between India and Pakistan. Analysts say that restrictions like stopping newspapers can further deteriorate the relationship between the two countries.
