PAK Cricket embarrassed, young player arrested in England on rape charges; PCB takes strict action

Pakistan cricket is being embarrassed with a new scandal. Young batsman Haider Ali has been arrested in England on rape allegations. The incident occurred during the recently completed England tour of Pakistan Shaheen.
Haider Ali, 24, is a member of the Pakistan A team, who has been provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board until the completion of the inquiry. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the report of rape was received on Monday.
Greater Manchester Police said in its statement, 'We have arrested a 24-year-old man. It is alleged that the incident took place on 23 July 2025 in the premises of Manchester. The person is currently on bail and investigation will be done for further action.' Police in England did not name the cricketer due to suspicion at this stage of the investigation.
According to Telecom Asia Sports, 'Haider was arrested from Beckenham Ground, where Shaheen was playing against MCSAC.' A source said that this is a case of rape against a girl of Pakistani origin. It has been learned that Haider's passport has been confiscated before he was released on bail.
The PCB spokesperson said, 'We were informed about the matter and the investigation. We suspended Haider till the completion of the investigation and will take our own action in England.' The PCB spokesperson noted that the board will fully support the legal process and will also provide legal support to Haider.
It is known that Shaheen's tour of England started on 17 July and ended on 6 August. During this, two three-day matches were played between the two teams, which were drawn. Shaheen then won the ODI series 2-1. Apart from captain Saud Shakeel and Haider, most of the players have returned home.
Haider Ali started his international career in 2020. He represented Pakistan in two ODIs and 35 T20 Internationals. He has been surrounded by controversies before as well. This includes suspension due to breaching COVID-19 protocols during the 2021 Pakistan Super League.
