Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin made a big announcement. He said that the Indus Valley script has remained an unsolved puzzle for more than a century. He announced a prize of 1 million US dollars to the person who deciphers it. CM MK Stalin made this announcement during the inaugural ceremony of the International Symposium on the Centenary of the Discovery of the Indus Valley Civilization held at the Government Museum in Egmore on Sunday.
In fact, in the three-day symposium, renowned archaeologists, historians, and scholars from around the world discussed the importance of civilization and its relationship with Tamil Nadu. At the same time, during his speech at the event, CM Stalin said that about 60 percent of the symbols found on the pottery of the Indus Valley are similar to the symbols found on the artifacts found during excavations in Tamil Nadu.
He also emphasized that this surprising similarity has aroused great interest among scholars and can potentially reveal the mysteries of the Indus Valley Civilization. CM Stalin also announced a grant of Rs 2 crore to set up a research chair in the name of renowned archaeologist Iravatham Mahadevan to further promote research in this field.
This chair will enable an in-depth study of the Indus Valley Civilization, with a special focus on its links with Tamil Nadu.
Recent archaeological discoveries from Sivakalai in Tuticorin have brought the researchers closer to establishing a definite connection between Tamil Nadu and the Indus Valley Civilization. The timing of these discoveries places them between 2500 BC and 3000 BC. The findings in Tamil Nadu have revealed an Iron Age civilization that traces a parallel path to the Indus Valley Civilization, between 3300 BC and 1300 BC. During this period, the Indus Valley Civilization primarily used copper objects.
