Now Perplexity can create AI videos on X; Know how to make them
AI Video: This new feature can increase the engagement of the chatbot, but with it the possibility of spreading fake and misleading information has also increased. X has already faced criticism for its laxity in content moderation, although Perplexity claims that it has installed strong content filters so that this feature cannot be misused.

If you're also keen on creating videos with AI, you can produce AI videos for free. The AI search startup Perplexity has upgraded its chatbot with a new video generation feature on X (formerly Twitter), resulting in a surge of AI-created visuals on this platform owned by Elon Musk.
Perplexity's 'Ask Perplexity' bot can now generate short, eight-second video clips (with audio) on X. You simply need to write a brief prompt tagging @AskPerplexity, and in return, they receive an AI video that features creative visuals, audio, and dialogue.
While this new feature can boost the chatbot's engagement, it also heightens the risk of disseminating fake and misleading information. X has already faced criticism for its lenient content moderation, although Perplexity asserts that it has implemented robust content filters to prevent misuse of the feature.
This innovation also highlights the intensifying competition between AskPerplexity and Grok, developed by Elon Musk's xAI company. Both are among the most active and tagged automated accounts on X, but Grok cannot currently generate videos, which seems to give Perplexity an advantage.
After the introduction of this feature, users on X began posting imaginative videos featuring celebrities, politicians, and global leaders. Some of the videos were so strange that the AskPerplexity account had to post, "I read all of your video request DMs... some people really need help."
Perplexity is also making its chatbot available on WhatsApp to enhance accessibility. Starting in April 2025, Perplexity AI will be accessible on WhatsApp, allowing users to ask questions directly without having to download a separate app. To use this, you need to save +1 (833) 436-3285.
