NIA's disclosure on smuggling of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in India, chargesheet filed against eight people

Attempts of human trafficking and infiltration are being made continuously from the international border between India and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against eight people. NIA claims that all eight people are part of an international organization smuggling Rohingyas and Bangladeshis into India using fake documents.

The investigative agency has named all of these people as Jalil Mian, Hanan Mian, Kajal Sarkar, Adhir Das, Anwar Hussain, Rabiul Hasan, and Kamal Das. It has been reported that they all ran their organizations from the northeastern state of Tripura. Kamal Das and Kajal Das are listed as fugitives in the indictment sheet. Kamal Das was working with Liton Chakraborty from Silchar, West Bengal. The NIA discovered throughout its investigation that Liton Chakraborty used to produce identity cards for Bangladeshi citizens using forged documents. It is also stated that Rabiul Hasan had cordial relationships with the suspects detained in Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam registered a case in this regard in October 2023. After this, the NIA took over the investigation of the case. The investigating agency says that the trafficked persons were forced to do hard work at low wages. Along with this, they were threatened with arrest by the police.
