NHAI Streamlines Vehicle Verification; FASTag Services Won’t Be Suspended for Pending KYV
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the 'Know Your Vehicle' (KYV) process for FASTag customers. Non-compliance with KYV will no longer result in the suspension of FASTag services, and customers will be given ample time to complete the process. According to the new guidelines, a side photo of the vehicle is no longer required; only a photo of the number plate and FASTag is sufficient. Customers can also lodge complaints on the helpline number 1033.

National Highways Authority of India has, for the convenience of the FASTag customer, simplified the vehicle verification process, i.e., 'Know Your Vehicle' - KYV.
According to the revised guidelines issued by Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), a subsidiary of NHAI, FASTag services will not be suspended for vehicles that do not comply with KYV, and customers will be given ample time to complete the KYV process.
Under the new guidelines, side photos of cars, jeeps, or vans will no longer be required for KYV. Only a front photo showing the number plate and FASTag will need to be uploaded.

Additionally, when a user enters the vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number, a system will be implemented to automatically retrieve registration details from the Vahan portal. If multiple vehicles are registered to the same mobile number, the user will be able to select the vehicle for which they wish to complete the KYV process.
All FASTags issued prior to the policy will be kept operational for continuity of services, but complaints about loose tags or misutilization could attract action. The banks issuing FASTags will send regular messages to the users to complete the KYV process.
The FASTag-issuing bank will contact the customer in case of difficulty in uploading the documents in order to assist them in completing the KYV process. The customers can also lodge their complaints regarding the KYV-related issues at their bank or on NHAI's helpline number 1033.
