Tamil Nadu: Horrific road accident in Tirupattur, people sitting on footpath crushed in truck-van collision, seven killed
Tamil Nadu: According to the police, the van which caused this accident was carrying only people sitting on the footpath. However, due to some problem on the way, they all got down from it and sat on the roadside.
A horrific road accident occurred in Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu on Monday. Here seven women sitting on the footpath died after being crushed by a van. It is reported that when this van was standing on the roadside, a lorry hit it from behind, due to which the van went on to crush the women sitting on the footpath.
According to the police, the van in which this accident took place was carrying only women sitting on the footpath. However, due to some problem on the way, they all got down from it and sat on the roadside. These women were returning from Karnataka. 13 people have also been injured in the accident, who have been admitted to local government hospitals.
According to a senior police official, the injured were part of a group from Onanguttai village near Ambur in Vellore district, which had gone on a trip to Dharamsala in Karnataka on September 8. The victims were returning home in two vans when a tire of one of the vehicles burst at Nattarampalli on the Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway, leaving the passengers stranded midway.
