PM Modi Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Lakhisarai, Birbhum
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia from PMNRF for kin of those killed in Lakhisarai stampede and Birbhum hotel fire.
New Delhi, August 17 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each person who died in the incidents in Bihar’s Lakhisarai and West Bengal’s Birbhum.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated on X: “PM Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF to be given to the next of kin of each deceased in the unfortunate incident in Lakhisarai, Bihar. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister expressed grief over the loss of lives in a stampede at the Ashok Dham temple in Lakhisarai, which claimed seven lives. The PMO posted: “Pained by the loss of lives due to a stampede in Lakhisarai, Bihar. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover at the earliest. The local administration is assisting those affected: PM Narendra Modi.”
