Scale of Financial Assistance Already Disbursed

Nabin said the state government had already provided more than Rs 550 crore in financial assistance to flood-affected families, at the rate of Rs 7,000 per family, giving a clear sense of the scale at which direct cash assistance has already been distributed to those impacted by the flooding.

Relief Infrastructure on the Ground

According to Nabin, arrangements have been made in affected areas for relief camps, community kitchens, medical facilities and fodder for livestock, covering both immediate human needs and the agricultural and pastoral concerns of affected families. He said teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) had been deployed and remained prepared for rescue operations, while crop damage assessment was also underway to determine the level of assistance required by affected farmers.

Continuous Monitoring of the Situation

Nabin said the flood situation was being continuously monitored, with the government working to ensure relief reached affected people without delay, underscoring an emphasis on responsiveness given the scale and severity of this year's flooding.

Central Government's Involvement

Referring to the Centre's assistance, Nabin noted that Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had visited flood-affected areas, met with victims, and reviewed relief and rescue operations, pointing to coordinated engagement between the central and state governments in addressing the crisis.

A Commitment to Continued Support

Nabin assured flood-affected families of his ongoing commitment to supporting them through the crisis, saying all possible assistance would continue to be provided as relief operations progressed.

The Scale of This Year's Flooding

Severe floods have affected around 50 lakh people in 88 blocks across 15 districts in Bihar this year, a scale of impact that underscores the severity of the current crisis facing the state. Nabin added that the state government had remained continuously engaged in relief and rescue operations, having provided food to around 1.62 crore people through more than 1,000 community kitchens, a figure that reflects the sheer logistical scale involved in sustaining food security for such a large affected population over an extended period.
