Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has now made a significant step towards facilitating underwater search and rescue activities to become more convenient and technologically advanced. The corporation has made the introduction of a robotic device that can search up to a depth of 200 meters below the water surface. The device is named Deep Tracker Remote-Operated Vehicle (ROV). This robot can be employed to locate objects dropped into rivers or canals, to take out drowned bodies, and to locate weapons or evidence discarded into the water due to any criminal activity.

If we discuss the specialty of this robot, then this robot is fitted with a mechanical grabber and a camera. It can be operated at a distance. This robot can operate even in low light or visibility. Besides this, this robot can grasp objects of up to 100 kg.

Om Jadeja, Divisional Fire Officer of AMC's Fire and Emergency Department, informed that a third-party agency gave a demo of this device. He said that we called some nearby rescue teams and put an object in the water. With the help of this robot, it was searched up to a depth of 200 meters. This device runs on sonar technology and is very effective.
