Five houses and hotel collapsed in Mizoram, many people feared dead, five killed in Assam too

Landslide: Many people are feared dead due to the collapse of five houses and a hotel due to a landslide caused by heavy rains in Lawngtlai town of South Mizoram. The incident happened around 10:30 pm on Friday night. The local administration is carrying out rescue operations with the help of people.

Monsoon has come to the nation ahead of time, is causing devastation in the northeast states. Several houses in Mizoram have been destroyed in the past 24 hours because of rain. Several people are feared dead as well. Meanwhile, in Assam, flood-like conditions prevailed in various parts following the rains. 5 people are also dead. Several states like Sikkim, Tripura, and Meghalaya have suffered greatly because of rain. 

Many people are feared dead after five 5houses and a hotel collapsed because of the landslide triggered by the heavy rains in South Mizoram's Lawngtlai town. The incident occurred at about 10:30 pm on Friday in the Bazar Veng and Chandmari area border in Lawngtlai, when the houses and hotels were hit by the landslide.

Officials said that many people from Myanmar staying in the hotel may be trapped under the debris. The local official said that the rescue operation is being carried out by the State Disaster Response Force (SRDF) and personnel of the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion, along with volunteers of the Young Lai Association (YLA), the largest civil social organization in Lawngtlai district.
