India's AYUSH system made a big achievement, got a special place in WHO report
WHO: The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized India's pioneering efforts in AI with traditional medical systems, especially AYUSH systems, in one of its reports. This report includes many AI-based innovations in India's Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Sowa Rigpa, and Homeopathy medical systems.

India achieved a huge success in global health innovation. The report of the World Health Organization comprises India's AYUSH innovation and its pioneering work of AI. The title of the report is "Mapping the application of artificial intelligence in traditional medicine.".
The Ministry of AYUSH said on Saturday that this WHO report is based on a proposal from India itself. After this, this first global framework was prepared for the use of AI in traditional medicine.
This report includes many AI-based innovations in India's Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, Sowa Rigpa and Homeopathy medical systems. The report lauds diagnosis support systems that combine traditional methods such as physical assessment, pulse testing, tongue inspection, with machine learning and deep neural networks. These efforts are increasing diagnosis accuracy and enabling personalized care.
A special innovation mentioned in the report is "Ayurgenomics". It is a scientific achievement that combines genomics with Ayurvedic principles. This is making disease prediction and personalized health recommendations possible through AI. Also, India's efforts towards understanding the molecular structure of traditional herbal medicines and preparing them for reuse in modern diseases have been described as a major achievement.
Praising India's Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL), WHO has described it as a global model for the preservation and responsible use of ancient medical knowledge. Also, AI-powered tools are being used for cataloging and semantic analysis of ancient texts, making easy access to time-tested medical knowledge possible.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH said that at the core of this digital transformation is AYUSH Grid, a comprehensive digital health platform launched in 2018, which serves as the foundation for several citizen-centric initiatives such as the SAHI portal, NAMASTE portal and AYUSH Research portal. Together, these AI-enabled platforms have not only saved lives but also taken a strong step towards integrating it into the global digital health framework in an evidence-based manner.
