India has become the most attacked country by malware. It leads the world chart. Ransomware attacks have risen, according to the report of cybersecurity company Acronis, ransomware attacks have increased due to Artificial Intelligence, i.e., AI. The report has been drawn up on the survey conducted between January and June this year.

In India, there was malware in 12.4 percent of the devices that are based on the Windows operating system in May. This indicates that most cyber attacks occur with the use of the Windows operating system. This is the highest globally. This percentage had risen to 13.2 percent in June. Cyber attacks targeting official emails have risen from 20 percent at the beginning of 2024 to 25.6 percent in the first half of 2025.

According to the report, cybercriminals are also now using AI for personal information like credit cards and passwords. Generative AI has reduced the barriers for cybercriminals. Due to this, it has now become difficult to detect phishing emails, fake invoices, and even deepfake-based scams quickly.

The hybrid work model after COVID has made companies vulnerable through these secure remote setups. Manufacturing, information, and technology services, and telecom industries are among the most risky sectors in India. The report also warns that many major threats are looming over India's digital ecosystem.
