When the Indian team won the toss and chose to bat first against Pakistan Shaheen, they started off well. For the first wicket, the Indian opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran contributed 68 runs. In 6.1 overs, this partnership broke. After scoring 35 runs in 22 balls, Abhishek Sharma was removed. After playing an impressive innings of 36 runs in 19 balls, Prabhsimran also left the crease immediately after.
Under such circumstances, captain Tilak Verma took charge of one end and put the team in a strong position by forming partnerships with Nehal Vadhera (25 runs, 22 balls) for 38 runs for the third wicket, Ayush Badoni (2 runs) for 6 runs for the fourth wicket, and Ramandeep Singh (17 runs) for 43 runs for the fifth wicket. Tilak Verma was dismissed in the 18.2nd over with a team score of 163/5, having hit 44 runs in 35 balls with two fours and two sixes. Only 20 runs could be added to the team's total after Tilak was gone, and they could only reach 183 for 8 wickets in the given 20 overs. Sufiyan Maqeem took the most wickets for Pakistan, with Mohammad Imran, Zaman Khan, Arafat Minhas, and Qasim Akram each taking one.
