The first match of the three-match Test series is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru between India and New Zealand. This rain-hit match witnessed the havoc of Kiwi fast bowlers from the very second day. India reached 34 runs for the loss of six wickets in their first innings till lunch on the second day.

Starting the match 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled time on Wednesday, it got underway after the complete washout of the first day's play due to rain. Indian captain Rohit Sharma called the flip and his decision to bat first in the overcast conditions proved very wrong. The Indian top order proved to be a complete flop in front of Kiwi fast bowlers and fell like a pack of cards. Captain Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sarfaraz Khan returned to the pavilion cheaply.

In 23.5 overs, Team India has scored 34 runs and lost six wickets. Ravindra Jadeja was out just before lunch. Four out of six batsmen could not even open the account. These include Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. At the same time, Rohit was out after scoring two runs and Yashasvi 13 runs. Rishabh Pant is unbeaten after scoring 15 runs. The maximum, three wickets, have been taken by William O'Rourke of New Zealand. Matt Henry got two and Tim Southee got one wicket.
