Flight Tickets to Cost More as IndiGo Adds Fuel Surcharge Amid Rising Oil Prices

According to a statement issued by IndiGo, this surcharge will range from ₹425 to ₹2,300. This increase will apply to both domestic and international flights. The company stated that this decision was taken due to the continuous increase in jet fuel prices. Global crude oil prices have been fluctuating for some time, directly impacting airlines' operating costs.

Fuel prices contribute a lot to an airline’s costs. The surcharge will help the company cover these costs. Passengers should be aware of this additional charge when booking tickets. This surcharge will be in addition to the original ticket price. The airline stated that it will continue to monitor market conditions.

This new fuel surcharge will be effective from March 14, 2026. This means that all tickets booked after this date will be charged. Air India and Air India Express have already taken this decision following a sharp increase in jet fuel prices due to the ongoing tensions in West Asia.
