Ethanol-powered Toyota Innova will make its entry on this day, Nitin Gadkari himself confirmed the launch date

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, will unveil the Toyota Innova MPV powered by ethanol on August 29, 2023. Nitin Gadkari himself has confirmed this information. "On August 29, I am going to launch the popular (Toyota) Innova car on 100% ethanol," he stated in a speech.

The Toyota Innova is now equipped with unique modifications to run entirely on ethanol. This complies with the Union Minister's demand that popular automakers offer electric vehicles and passenger cars powered by alternative fuels. The Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric car was unveiled in India last year. In the fiscal year 2024–2025, there will be a lot of activity in the passenger EV segment.

He further said that he developed an interest in biofuels after gasoline prices increased in 2004 and visited Brazil to learn more in-depth. He pointed out that biofuels have the potential to deliver remarkable results and significantly reduce foreign exchange expenditure associated with petroleum imports.

He said biofuels can do wonders and save huge amounts of foreign exchange spent on importing petroleum. Gadkari wants to neutralize oil imports, which currently amount to Rs 16 lakh crore, for a self-reliant industry.

The Indian automotive industry has seen the arrival of strong hybrid cars like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Innova Hycross, Maruti Suzuki Invicto, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hybrid and Honda City Hybrid. Domestic manufacturers like Mahindra and Tata are pushing to launch several zero-emission vehicles in the next two to three years.
