The other notable buy-in set 13 of capped batsmen was West Indies batsman Rovman Powell, who was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for the base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Powell became the first buy of the day after New Zealand batsmen Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips remained unsold.
Apart from him, other players, who do not get sold in the opening lot on Monday, are Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, and Mayank Agarwal. Another young Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw also remains unsold in the bidding process. His base price was Rs 75 lakh.
There was a time when he was in the highlights because of his aggressive playing style in the tournament, but the last few years have just been a nightmare for his career. He has been constantly struggling to make a place in Team India.
On day one of the auction, 72 players were sold for a whopping Rs 467.95 crore. Rishabh Pant, bought by Lucknow Super Giants went on to create a record for the costliest buy with Rs 27 crore, while Shreyas Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings at Rs 26.75 crore.
More surprisingly, the title-winning KKR bought Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 23.75 crore. Punjab Kings got Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal to strengthen the bowling attack for Rs 18 crore.
