Dr. Chirag Joshi, Director of UN Mehta Hospital, said that there can be many reasons for sudden death in any person. Not every sudden death is cardiac death. Heart attack is the cause of sudden death only in a few cases. He said that before the coronavirus period in UN Mehta Hospital, the average number of heart attack patients was 8 to 11 percent per year, which has been seen to be around 12 percent in the post-Corona data till the year 2023. In this way, after the Corona period, there has been an average increase in cardiac hospitals in the state. According to experts, cardiac arrest and heart attack are two different issues which need to be understood.
Cardiologist Dr. Bhavesh Roy said that the rate of heart attack has increased among the youth today. In such a situation, the youth do not need to be afraid of heart attacks but need to be cautious. The biggest change is taking place in lifestyle today. Due to this, more cases of heart attack are being seen.
Today 40 percent of people are not physically active and 20 percent are somewhat active. Along with this, cases of heart attack are also increasing due to obesity and smoking. Smoking causes blockage in the arteries which also causes attacks. Additional Director of Medical Education, Dr RK Dixit said that at present the number of cases related to infectious diseases and heart diseases is increasing not only in Gujarat but all over the world.
